I never wanted to be a housewife, cleaning, cooking and coffee mornings. How things have changed! I'm a 30 ish, married, English mum now living in Germany. The challenge: to become a less helpless housewife.

Deutschland

Don't wash your car on the street!
Everyone loves brötchen & meat.
Understanding is fine,
Talking takes time.
Sausages - many choices, what shall it be?
Currywurst and pommes for me!
Lots of yummy cakes.
Autobahn's - as fast as it takes.
Nordrhein Westfalen my home of late.
Deutschland - lots of things that make it great!

Spring sprung & done

Aaaaaahhhh where has the time gone? Oh yeah I know, It'll be giving birth to our second daughter on 9th February 2012 and not having any time, sleep or brains for about three months! So ok maybe the brains part is still a little lacking (and sleep at times) but after giving birth in a different country (Germany), surviving the first nightmarish few months with a newborn baby (with colic), and a two year old, I now feeling more human again. This housewife is surviving being helpless, and at times hopeless, and keen to get my blog on.

Guilt trip

I wander just how many other Mums feel guilty, a LOT. I know I often feel I haven't entertained my daughter enough or fed her the right things or taken her to all the singing/dancing/gymnastic groups.Number one guilt being living in Germany vs family being in England. I have to remind myself on a nearly daily basis of all the positives of living here; more time for being mum, husband & I are more relaxed, more time for our family to do what WE want, the joy of living on a farm, the fun of learning a new language (slowly) & exploring a new country and meeting new people. Alles gut!
